2002 Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel

I don’t think I much care for it. In fact, I dumped this one. I get mostly a heavy raisin or even a prune flavor, because it sort of seems like it is over-the-top.

I thought that if I left it on the counter for a few days, it might open up. I was wrong.

With 15% alcohol, I thought that there should be some heat with this one. But I didn’t find any.

I don’t really think this was a corked bottle, although I’ll admit that when I have a corked bottle, I have trouble distinguishing it from one that is “over the top.”

If you like very ripe Zinfandel’s give this one a try, as it might suit you just fine. I know a lot of people who like them that way. In fact, I have another bottle of this one in the cooler. I may give it to one of them…

  1. I took my other bottle to a wine tasting, and people drank it down with no complaints. So it must have been okay.
