2003 Toad Hollow Cabernet Sauvignon

We tasted this one blind…

No one came close to guessing the varietal. Some of the guesses were a pinot noir because of the funky aroma, a merlot because there is a touch of red cherry, and an over-ripe zinfandel because of a raisin or prune flavor. We might have thought about a Cabernet Sauvignon if we had realized that the mysterious flavor that we tasted was eucalyptus. None in the group could handle more than a couple of sips. We didn’t think that the wine was flawed, it just wasn’t a style that suited our pallet.
