Nice ruby-red color, aromas include red currents, a touch of blueberry and a touch of leather.
In tasting it I can say that you can drink it now or let it sit another year or two. It is quite nice right now, so I say drink it!
It has a nice balance from start to finish, but it has a bit of sour cherry. It would pair well with a grilled steak dusted with freshly ground pepper, as the wine finishes with a bit of heat.
I just tried a glass of this wine and was very dissappointed. I did not uncork the wine (being a guest) so don’t know the condition of the bottle but the wine tasted oxidized and through a lot of sediment. Should I try a fresh bottle of this 2000 vintage? I notice that the vintners site doesn’ offer this year at all? Being new to French wines I would hate to miss a value but would equally hate to waste $15 +/- on a wine that is past it’s prime or not very good to start with. Any advise? Thanks
Yours doesn’t sound at all like the one that I tried. Perhaps it was improperly stored. I thought it was a good wine for the price, but like you, I do not know a lot about French wines.
Opened a bottle tonight (8/9). Very enjoyable. One year on now, I have to concur with Dave’s comments spot on. Still a yummy bordeaux – delicious but not outstanding. Drink it up.
